Our Kenya outreach is finally here! After several months of preparation, Stephanie, Wesley and I depart early Sunday morning from Cape Town. We will arrive in Nairobi, Kenya late Sunday afternoon. During our first week we will be holding meetings with leaders in Nairobi in the suburb of Ongata Rongai. Commonly known as Rongai by the Kenyan locals, this settlement is located between the Kaputiei plains and the western slopes of the Ngong hills outside of Nairobi and has a population of over 50,000 people. We will be joined by our long-time friend and co-worker in the ministry, Luke Odhiambo. Luke planted a church in Rongai over 20 years ago and has trained up many leaders who have taken the work of the local church. Luke now lives in the rural areas in his original family area.
We will be spending three days in Rongai with Luke and several of the local leaders. We will then fly from Nairobi to Kisumu in western Kenya on Thursday where we will spend the remainder of our time in the rural areas.
We want to ask that you pray for us as we embark on this eight week journey. Pray for all the logistics of our trip including health, safety, and all the connections we will be making with people. Please also pray for Camille and Natalie as they will be back at home in South Africa. They have many friends who will be supporting them and keeping them company as we are away.
We hope to be sending regular updates during our time in Kenya. We are looking forward to all that God is going to do during this time.
Thanks for the prayers and God bless!
