There are four weeks remaining before we depart for Kenya. All the planning for our eight weeks in Kenya is going well. Many of the men we relate to in Kenya are busy making plans for our arrival. In this update we want to introduce you to Silvance Odwar.

Silvance and his wife have five children and live in Ahero, Kenya in western Kenya. Silvance is in full-time ministry and teaches pastors and leaders in his region. He also teaches in bible schools in several surrounding towns. Silvance has a heart to see the body of Christ equipped and serves the Lord faithfully. He is a gifted administrator and always has an encouraging word to speak in any situation. Like many Kenyans, Silvance faces the daily challenges of life in very practical ways. He shared with me in a recent email that one “small” challenge he faces is that when the regular floods come to his area the flood waters bring snakes into his rental home and he and his family have to find temporary accommodation with friends until the water recedes and the snakes can be removed from his house! And all this he shares with a big grin on his face. I have had the privilege of sharing meals in Silvance’s home and his wife and children are beautiful people (not to mention his wife is a wonderful cook!). His hope is that one day he will be able to build a house of his own on a small piece of land that he already owns in Ahero. We will be joining Silvance in Ahero for a week while we are in Kenya and meeting with several leaders from his area. Please pray for Silvance and his family as they faithfully serve the Lord.

We want to ask that you continue to pray for our entire family as we finish all the preparations for this trip to Kenya. Stephanie, Wesley and I have many things to do to prepare for our time in Kenya and we are working through our list daily. Camille and Natalie will be staying at home in South Africa while we are away. This is a big and new experience for us all as we will be traveling for the longest period of time ever and the girls will be holding down the fort while we are away. This is a big deal for them and for us. We are all excited about this new adventure, but also need lots of prayer and support during this time. Also, please pray for the remainder of the funds needed for this trip to come in. God has already provided almost 80% of the budget and we are confident He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

God bless you,

Cliff & Stephanie
